St. Matthew, Oak Creek

Our Parish Roots:

St. Matthew Parish was founded in 1841 as a log church. The original brick church that stands today was built around the log church and was dedicated in 1861, serving the Parish as the primary worship space for a century. The original brick church is still used by our Parish for services.

The new building and worship space were dedicated on September 23, 1962. Since then, we have added an octagonal gathering space and lower-level meeting rooms in 2005.

St. Matthew’s has maintained a long tradition of proclaiming Christ through the sacramental life of the Catholic Church, education, and outreach to the community. St. Matthew’s Parish has flourished for more than 175 years and has become a gathering space for more than 980 families, welcoming a rich and diverse Parish life for all Catholics.

  ROOF REPAIRS

Our main worship space is over 60 years old. We will repair the church roof over the main worship space and over the former sanctuary area near the sacristy. We will also replace the roof over the Door 1 vestibule. Modernizing our roof will provide necessary protection from the elements for parishioners, priests, staff, and visitors alike, as well as infrastructure reinforcement.

  UNIVENT REPLACEMENT

Our univents are in great need of replacement, as they provide heating and ventilation for the entire building. Our univents are outdated, have leaky seals on outdoor intake, and are expensive to maintain. Replacing the univents will increase energy efficiency, reduce the risk of an unexpected failure, and save the Parish on maintenance and upkeep costs.

  CLASSROOM WINDOWS

Our classroom windows are also outdated and require an upgrade for energy efficiency. Replacing the original windows will ensure a more comfortable learning environment for our students and keep our students safe from natural elements. An upgrade now will make our classrooms more energy efficient in line with Pope Francis’ Laudato Si’ and save the Parish on utility, maintenance, and upkeep costs for the next 10+ years.

  ENTRANCE DOOR

Our current doors are 60 years old and leaky with poorly insulated single pane glass. Replacing our doors will allow us to maintain a comfortable and easily accessible entry space to our Parish home, to better welcome Catholics joining us for Mass.
