Love One Another Capital Campaign 2021

Our Lady of Lourdes, Milwaukee

Our Parish Roots

Our Lady of Lourdes was established as a parish on June 20, 1958, by Archbishop Albert E. Meyer. That next year, the newly constructed parish building hosted  its first Mass on December 6th, for 300 families. Our Lady of Lourdes has grown to over 1,000 households, continuing the legacy of being a welcoming community of faithful followers of Jesus.

Through the years, Our Lady of Lourdes has gained a reputation for its rich liturgies, diverse ministries, contemporary music, and commitment to social justice. Our future is enriched not only by our newest members, but also by the history shared by longtime and charter parishioners. We are not just a neighborhood parish. Many members travel up to 60 minutes from home to worship with this community. People pray here not because they have to, but because they want to.

As Our Lady of Lourdes looks to the future, we are commited to providing Christian hospitality, valuing every person, creating a peaceful and safe environment, and encouraging each one of us to share our gifts and calls to the faith.

Our Share

Through much prayer, planning and conversation, we have identified our greatest needs and initiatives to strengthen our mission and vision for years to come. Our share of the funds raised will be used to improve technology in the parish; to hospitably reach out to those seeking a spiritual home; and for capital improvements in the parish including repairing the parking lot, adding green space, and updating the windows.

  MISSION AND MINISTRY - $150,000

To continue the dynamic liturgies that welcome and speak to people today through creative prayer, meaningful ritual, stirring homilies, and excellent music both in person and virtually, we will need to update the A/V technology in the worship area. This includes new projectors used during Mass to operate in conjunction with our newly installed equipment for live streaming. We will also update our sound board to enhance the quality of sound for all those participating in the liturgy. Additionally, we will use funds to renovate our parish lobby with a service area, adding amenities such as a drinking fountain with a water bottle filler, a coffee bar, and more inviting seating and decor. Finally, we plan to donate 10% or up to $15,000 of funds raised to our twinning partner, Outreach to Haiti.

  CAPITAL IMPROVEMENTS - $490,940

We are aware that there are always projects needed to maintain the complex in an eco-friendly and energy efficient manner while using the funds of parishioners wisely. We plan to use a portion of funds raised to update sections of the parking lot that need to be repaved and repainted, as well as add additional green spaces to unused areas. We also plan to replace the windows on the west side of the complex with energy efficient windows and updated treatments to reduce future operational costs for the parish.
