Love One Another Capital Campaign 2021

Sacred Heart of Jesus, St. Francis

Our Parish Roots

Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish dates back to 1868 when Fr. Kilian Flasch was appointed the first pastor, and the first church was completed in 1872. The parish school was completed shortly after. In 1876 the cemetery was begun, and by 1888 the parish community had outgrown the old church, so a new one was built. In 1888, the Sacred Heart of Jesus parishioners that had been buried on the seminary grounds were brought home and reinterred in the parish cemetery.

In 1961, the parish saw yet another building as it continued to grow, and in 2010 the parish helped address the changing needs of the surrounding community by selling portions of the property to create senior apartments. In that process, the worship space was remodeled, and in 2012, the new church was dedicated by the Most Reverend Jerome E. Listecki, Archbishop of Milwaukee. In 2019, Sacred Heart celebrated 150 years!

Though the surrounding community has changed over the years, the fervor of the Sacred Heart of Jesus parishioners is unfading as service continues with local partners in ministry, including Project Concern, St. Vincent de Paul, and many more.

  CAPITAL PROJECTS - $199,123

Our parish has a variety of capital needs that this campaign will help us address. For security purposes, we will install electronic keypads on the church and office doors which will allow us to regularly set when to unlock and lock the church space. We will also replace the sacristy doors. They are outdated and a security concern as well. Lastly, we will construct a bell tower for the bells we currently own. We would like to use the bells we have to call all to worship at our parish. it would be wonderful to hear the bells once again joyously pealing through our neighborhood. This capital projects fund will allow our parish to complete the needs listed above and address any other projects that we identify.
