St. Patrick, Racine

Our Parish Roots:

St. Patrick Parish was founded in 1856 by Irish immigrants and established near Racine’s waterfront and the industries growing along the Root River.

In 1923, architect Barry Byrne was hired to design our current church building. Until then, our congregation worshipped in a Greek Revival style church building.

Our church building was dedicated in 1925. Since then, our parish has been noted for its architectural significance. St. Patrick was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1979.

One of the founding Catholic parishes of Racine, St. Patrick remains a vibrant and welcoming Catholic environment.There are over 1,871 families involved at the parish, signaling a bright future for Catholics in the greater Racine community and beyond.

La parroquia de St. Patrick fue fundada en 1856 por inmigrantes irlandeses y se estableció cerca de la costa de Racine y de las industrias que crecían a lo largo del río.

En 1923, se contrató al arquitecto Barry Byrne para diseñar el edificio de nuestra iglesia actual. Hasta entonces, nuestra congregación se reunía en un edificio de iglesia de estilo neogriego.

Through much prayer, planning, and conversation, we have identified our greatest needs and initiatives to strengthen our mission and vision for years to come. Our share of the funds raised will be used to modernize our building and expand our community outreach.

Building Improvements/Mejoras a los edificios - $200,000

Our church building is over 95 years old and needs updating and repair. Our priorities include stabilizing our church spires at the corners, preventing and controlling salt buildup in our bricks due to water penetration, and renovating the rectory from a residence to an office that meets the needs of all families served by the Parish. All upgrades will protect our parishioners, staff, and visitors from natural elements, reinforce the structural stability of our Parish building, and allow us to grow our mission and ministry.

El edificio de nuestra iglesia tiene más de 95 años y necesita ser reparado. Nuestras prioridades incluyen estabilizar las torres de nuestra iglesia en las esquinas, prevenir y controlar la acumulación de sal en nuestros ladrillos debido a la penetración del agua y renovar la rectoría para tener mejor espacio para las reuniones y atender a las familias de nuestra parroquia. Community Outreach/Evangelización - $28,328

St. Patrick will establish a fund to further outreach initiatives including but not limited to summer work camps, retreats, and other formative events within our parish and within the Catholic Community in central Racine. This fund will supplement existing efforts in our neighborhood and support efforts within the Catholic Community in Racine. We will also establish a separate fund to bolster our regular support to charities and institutions that support families in need in Racine.

San Patricio establecerá un fondo para promover iniciativas de divulgación que incluyen, entre otros, campamentos de trabajo de verano, retiros y otros eventos formativos dentro de nuestra parroquia y dentro de la comunidad católica en el centro de Racine. Este fondo complementará los esfuerzos existentes en nuestro vecindario y apoyará los esfuerzos dentro de la comunidad católica en Racine. También crearemos un fondo separado para reforzar nuestro apoyo regular a organizaciones benéficas e instituciones que apoyan a familias necesitadas en Racine.
