St. Clare, Wind Lake

Our Parish Roots

In 1965, Archbishop William E. Cousins established St. Clare Catholic Church in Wind Lake under the leadership of Father John Kapellen. Parishioners celebrated Mass at Pagel’s resort until the completion of the metal frame church building in 1969, which housed the parish for 40 years. In 2004, the people of St. Clare once again broke ground to complete the dream of its founding members to build a permanent and beautiful worship space, which was completed a year later on April 3rd.

As a faith community that began by serving residents of summer cottages around local lakes, the members of St. Clare have continued to provide a valued presence in the Wind Lake area. With over 500 parish families today, St. Clare remains faithful to its mission to strengthen our faith community; deepen our understanding and relationship with Jesus Christ; evagelize all people, creating a meaningful impact on the world; and unite as partners in living the mission to which we are all called.

Our Share

Through much prayer, planning and conversation, we have identified our greatest needs and initiatives to strengthen our mission and vision for years to come. Our share of the funds raised will be used for excavating, regrading and resurfacing our parking lot; increasing our reserve fund and furthering our family faith formation mission.

CAPITAL PROJECTS $218,286

Our parish building has experienced flooding and damage to the lower level due to excessive water seepage and drainage issues from our parking lot. If not addressed this could cause foundational issues to our building. To prevent future damage, funds from the Love One Another campaign will be used to begin underground excavation and repairs, followed by regrading, and resurfacing of the parking lot to eliminate future issues and create a more welcoming and safe entrance into our parish.

FUTURE EXPENSES $10,000

We will supplement St. Clare’s financial health by continuing to add to our reserve. Maintaining this reserve will ensure that funds are available to enhance our parish programs and have funds available when facility needs arise. This will allow our mission and ministry to grow in line with our priorities and our assets.

FAMILY FATH FORMATION $5,000

Fostering Catholic faith is a key element of our mission at St. Clare. Campaign funds will be used to bolster our family faith formation opportunities, offer support for all forms of Catholic education, and fund engagement opportunities like speakers, parish missions, and pilgrimages that will help inspire us to follow Jesus. Establishing these programs will allow us to walk with parishioners as disciples as we evangelize and accompany them on their life-long faith journey.
