St. Joseph, Wauwatosa

Our Parish Roots:

St. Joseph was established in 1855 to serve Milwaukee’s growing German Catholic population on the West Side. From our original location on 11th and Cherry St, to the banquet room at Alioto’s Restaurant, to our current church building constructed in 1965, our faith community has remained committed to celebrating Mass, growing closer to God, and fostering the Spirit in each other.

Our parish life is centered around Mass and supported by a variety of ministries, devotions, and activities serving parishioners of all ages. Our K3-8 St. Joseph Catholic School provides a Christ-centered education with our team of caring and supportive teachers.

St. Joseph is a fixture to the Wauwatosa community and devoted to experience Jesus through prayer, formation, and service. As we look to the next 130 years, we know that the strength of the St. Joseph community will continue to serve the next generation of Catholics in Wauwatosa.

Our Share

Through much prayer, planning, and conversation, we have identified our greatest needs and initiatives to strengthen our mission and vision for years to come. Our share of the funds raised will be used to renovate our worship space, install lighting in our parish parking lot, and invest in faith formation and outreach programs throughout the community.

  Worship Space Renovation - $611,864

To continue being good stewards of our parish, we need to invest in our worship space as the center of our campus and make it a place that inspires, invites, and gives Glory to God. Planned projects include but are not limited to replacing the pews and kneelers, upgrading our carpeting, and installing modern lighting. Making the necessary renovations will allow us to continue to be a vibrant beacon of God’s Word and allow us to grow our mission and ministry.

  Campus Lighting - $50,000

Our campus receives extensive foot and automobile traffic. A new lighting plan will create a more welcoming and safe parish campus. Our plan is to install new light poles and new fixtures to mount more lights in our parking lots and along the exterior of our buildings. This safety improvement will improve visibility in our campus during late hours.

  Faith Formation & Outreach - $125,000

Faith formation and outreach is at the core of our Catholic faith, and our parish would like to invest in a number of items to expand our impact to our local and international community. With the funds raised, we intend to purchase educational items for our catechist and formation ministers. Purchasing materials for the Lenten and Advent season will help all parishioners deepen their faith.

In addition, we must invest in our outreach programs, which include Catholic Charities, food pantries, and our partnership with our sister parish, St. Peter Claver, in Belize.
