Racine, St. John Nepomuk
Love One Another Capital Campaign 2021

St. John Nepomuk, Racine

Our Parish Roots:

SJETL Risen ChristIn the late 1800s Catholic Czech immigrants who had made their home in Racine banded together in an association called the St. John Nepomuk Society. Initially they met in their homes and later with the blessings of the Archbishop that plan was transformed in to St. John Nepomuk Congregation.

The cornerstone of a new church at the corner of High and Erie street was blessed on November 12, 1896. Three months later the first mass was celebrated at St. John Nepomuk Church. In order to provide for the religious instruction of their children, parishioners secured an additional parcel of land and built a school which opened in September 1906. For 126 years, our St. John Nepomuk Church family circle has celebrated baptisms and weddings, cried at funerals, and joyfully welcomed new members. We stand on the shoulders of generations of faith, who have been stewards of the Church, founded by Catholic Czech Immigrants. We ask you to please join us in fundraising preservation work on our Church structures to revitalize St. John Nepomuk.

  BUILDINGS & GROUNDS REPAIR - $113,000

Enhancement, repair, and maintanence will be our primary objective for the funds raised in this historic initiative. St. John Nepomuk Parish Church is over 100 years old. The Rectory and Parish Center are also aging rapidly, and have endured many years of protecting our parish community from the elements. As with all older buildings, upkeep and preventative maintenance is critically important. These repairs will enhance the parishioner experience, and lend a greater environment in which our community will foster and grow our faith.

  EVANGELIZATION & MINISTRY - $10,235

Evangelization of our Faith plays an important role in our parish. Many times, evangelization happens through our many parish ministries and outreach work across the greater Racine area. The ministries at St. John Nepomuk provide parishioners with an avenue to share their faith with others in the parish and the entire community. A portion of the funds will be set aside in this campaign to bolster current ministries and thus increase our outreach.
