Love One Another Capital Campaign 2021

St. Stanislaus, Milwaukee

Our Parish Roots

St. Stanislaus Parish grew from the humble but faithful hearts of Polish Catholic immigrants first immigrating to the Milwaukee area for a better life and religious freedoms. In 1866, thirty families bought a small brick church to celebrate Mass in Polish for the first time in Milwaukee. After working tirelessly to raise funds and secure a loan, in 1872, a cornerstone was laid and within a year the church with its landmark twin spires was completed.

As the parish grew, so did the prestige. By the 1920s, St. Stanislaus was considered the Mother Church of Poles in Wisconsin. In its 150+ year tenure, numerous capital projects have been undertaken to uphold the splendor of the building and reaffirm its structure, giving us the beautiful dome, marble altar, and stained glass windows. With the changing of the population of Catholics in our community, in 2007, St. Stanislaus welcomed the traditional Latin Mass, with hundreds of families joining each Sunday to bring faith revival and new life, "restoring the past." The diverse community of St. Stanislaus today continues to care and preserve the vulnerable building so that new generations of Catholics will be able to give glory to God within its hallowed halls.

Our Share

Through much prayer, planning and conversation, we have identified our greatest needs and initiatives to strengthen our mission and vision for years to come. Our share of the funds raised will be used to install exterior lights to the building to uphold the splendor and replace the irrigation systems on the grounds.

  GROUNDS IRRIGATION - $10,000

The beautiful grounds and gardens surrounding the parish are tirelessly kept up to welcome those to St. Stanislaus. Sadly, the irrigation system was vandalized last year, and is needing key parts to be replaced. The funds raised will go to purchasing new sprinkler heads and irrigation hoses to ensure that the gardens will bloom vibrantly in the spring. The beauty of the green spaces well kept make visible that St. Stanislaus is a living community. The majesty of the earth will continue to lift souls to the heavens, as we tend to our grounds.

  EXTERIOR LIGHTING - $11,710

The building of St. Stanislaus has been appreciated by parishioners, pilgrims and visitors alike for over 150 years. To illumniate our magnificent church for miles around, we want to install flood lights to the grounds and the building. These lights will shine on the building, highlighting the cream brick, our twin tower spires, golden dome and stained-glass windows. In addition to showing its splendor, the lights will enhance the security of the building. The total cost of this project will be around $350,000, and we will seek to start that effort through funds raised in this campaign.
