St. Rose, Milwaukee

Our Parish Roots

Saint Rose of Lima parish was founded by Irish immigrants coming from Canada and from the Eastern States in 1888. In 1887, Archbishop Michael Heiss entrusted the Rev. Patrick H. Dumin with the formation of the parish. Fr. Dumin was appointed pastor of St. Francis Borgia Parish in Cedarburg eight months after his ordination in 1880. He celebrated the first Mass at St. Rose of Lima on February 19, 1888. Throughout its history, Saint Rose of Lima has been the spiritual home of Irish, African Americans, Puerto Ricans, Mexicans, and since fall of 2021, a faith home for French speaking Catholics from African and other latitudes. St. Rose of Lima offers masses in French, English, and Spanish.

  Parish Insulation - $17,000

We are so fortunate to have such a beautiful and comfortable church to call home. However, our facilities need maintenance. Most specifically, we need to invest in our church’s insulation. With our share of the funds raised, we intend to invest in keeping the church up to date and comfortable by reinsulating the building.

  Emergency Fund - $10,000

Although we are blessed with a thriving parish, there are always future unexpected repairs. With our share of funds, we plan to insulate our parish from future emergencies and unplanned expenses by developing a rainy-day fund for facilities and repairs.

  Religious Formation - $9,841

In order to best support our community, we need to provide for our religious formation programming. This lies at the heart of our mission—to spread the good word and welcome all people into our faith and our church. We specifically look forward to funding out RCIA program for adult education and evangelization.
