Love One Another Capital Campaign 2021

St. Therese, Kenosha

Our Parish Roots

In 1952, Milwaukee Archbishop William Cousins assigned Fr. Vincent Schneider to Kenosha to begin a new parish on the far south side. At that time there was only a little chapel attached to the Carmelite Home for the Aged on 93rd Street.

The present church structure, designed by a Frank Lloyd Wright understudy, is hexagonal in shape. The six sides represent the six-sided rose, a tribute to our Patroness, St. Therese, who promised that she would “shower down roses from heaven” on those who asked for her prayers.

St. Therese Church was dedicated on June 21, 1959. Set in the midst of a wooded area with beautiful oak trees, the parish with its scenic festival grounds is truly a gem on Kenosha’s south side. Our parish is well-known for our Lenten fish frys (the best in town!), our summer festival, and our warm, welcoming parishioners who are the foundation of our community.

  CAPITAL NEEDS FUND - $182,086

Our parish has a variety of capital needs that will be addressed through the Love One Another Campaign. First, we need new asphalt for our driveways and parking lots. Secondly, we must re-shingle the roof. We have been patching leaks, and it is time for a complete overhaul of the roof. Lastly, the rectory is in need of repair. This fund will allow us to take care of our facilities and ensure that they serve the needs of our parish for years to come.

SUPPORT THE KITUI DIOCESE - $21,000

For years, we have partnered with the Kitui Diocese in Kenya. We will tithe 10% of our share of funds to assist our partner diocese. $21,000 will go a long way in helping their diocese. It will also serve as an example of partnership in Christ.

  EVANGELIZATION FUND - $10,000

We will also establish an Evangelization Fund. We will use this fund to focus on calling people back to the Faith. The Catholic Church lost many members during the pandemic, and it is essential we focus on growing the church. We will use this fund to increase marketing efforts and develop programming to bring people into our parish.
