St. Mark, Kenosha

Our Parish Roots

St. Mark became a reality on February 28, 1924, in a wooden church that is now where our rectory is located. When the original wooden structure was condemned in 1947, mass was subsequently offered in the basement of the school building, now known as Berg Hall until our present church was finished and dedicated on April 11, 1970.
We are blessed by a wonderful community and all the priests that have served as pastor throughout the years: Fr. Alphonse Berg, Rev. Msgr. Ralph Altstadt, Fr. Joseph Strenski, Fr. Joseph Hornacek, Fr. Kenneth Metz, Fr. Stephen Forrest, Fr. Vince Kobida and presently, Fr. Carlos Florez.
In 1992, our parish welcomed the Hispanic Catholic Community of Kenosha under the guidance of Fr. Gerald Hessel. In 2016, Our parish started collaborating with St Mary in Kenosha, a great sister parish to grow alongside.
In 2024, we will celebrate our 100th anniversary. We currently have 2,003 families registered in our parish.

BUILDING & GROUNDS - MEJORANDO NUESTRA IGLESIA

It is important to address maintenance needs for our buildings and grounds to continue growing our faith, mission, and ministry. We want to create a new and inviting entrance to our worship space by installing six, new front doors to the church. The front doors to our church are big, heavy, and hard to open and close. The roofs on the rectory and garage are original and need to be replaced. They are beginning to deteriorate and need to be addressed before leaks begin. Additionally, the Church roof will need to be addressed in the future and we would like to reserve funds to be used when it is replaced.

We would like to start a future expense fund that we can build up to cover the cost of a new church roof.

FORMATION & ENGAGEMENT - FORMACION RELIGIOSA

We want to invest in our religious education program. This will allow us to pass on our faith to new parishioners for generations to come.
