Nativity of the Lord, Cudahy
Love One Another Capital Campaign 2021

Nativity of the Lord, Cudahy

Our Parish Roots:

Nativity of the Lord Congregation was dedicated twenty-two years ago following the merger of three Cudahy parishes: Holy Family, St Joseph and St Frederick. The history of these churches’ date back to the near 20th century and served Cudahy’s growing Polish, Slovak and German communities. Nativity of the Lord takes its name from the large and impressive stained-glass window in the choir loft depicting Christ’s birth.
The first priest appointed to pastor the new congregation was Father Phil Reifenberg. He navigated his flock through the changing dynamics and demographics of the times. Yet the ministries formed over the years continue to energize its spiritual life. Nativity is a part of a family of three South Shore churches and has become a gathering space for more 250 families that are very proud of their Catholic roots and proud to share the love of Jesus with others.
Under Fr. Mark Payne, St. Veronica and Nativity of the Lord began a shared pastorate, which was accepted by Fr. Carmeo Giuffre in 2019.

As our campus continues to mature and grow, a variety of upgrades are needed to care for our parish with prudent foresight. Planned renovations for the church will take place in phases but the Love One Another funds will be applied towards our most urgent needs. These needs include creating a gathering area to the back of the church, increasing the number of restrooms, and repairing the front entrance foundation. Making the necessary upgrades will provide our parishioners and visitors a more comfortable and spiritual environment to focus their hearts and minds in prayer. Later phases will include making the church more accessible to all with the installation of an elevator and remodeling the lower-level church hall.
