Three Holy Women, Milwaukee
Love One Another Capital Campaign 2021

Three Holy Women, Milwaukee

Our Parish Roots:

St Hedwig Church at 1702 N. Humboldt Avenue is an 1887 structure of Gothic and Romanesque styles. It replaced a much more modest wooden structure originally built on Franklin Place where Mass was first celebrated on October 17, 1871. It was erected for and by the Polish inhabitants of the city. The present edifice stands in a recently revived community of homes and small businesses known as the Brady Street neighborhood.

Holy Rosary Church at 2011 N. Oakland Avenue was built in 1885 in a blend of Queen Anne, Stick Style, and Romanesque architectural styles. Extensive renovations have taken place since 1986. Though not intended for any particular ethnic group, through the years it acquired an Irish identity.

St Rita Church at 1601 N. Cass Street began in 1933 as a “mission” outpost of the old Italian parish, the Blessed Virgin of Pompeii Church in Milwaukee’s Third Ward. Its basement church was blessed as a new independent parish in 1937 and a new Church building was erected and blessed in 1939. After many years of service, the old church was replaced in 2020, bringing together many elements from our history.

  Capital Projects

Our sites have differing needs that we must improve through this campaign. At Holy Rosary, we need to update and install new bathrooms as well as to refurbish the stained glass and other windows throughout the complex. At St. Hedwig, we need to update and install new bathrooms and install new doors. At St. Rita, we want to make additional improvements to the kitchen and Church Hall as well as the developing and planting of a church patio garden. The parish office also needs some cosmetic updates to the interior. These enhancements will ensure our different churches remain safe and functional as a place to worship for years to come.

  Outreach Fund

Our parish remains in the heart of Milwaukee, and we have the call to minister to those most in need surrounding our church. Making the presence of Three Holy Women Parish more visible, we will support parish ministries and community organizations in which many of our parish members already serve by creating a Three Holy Women Outreach Fund. We hope this will strengthen our legacy of service in the community and draw new members into our spiritual family.
