Love One Another Capital Campaign 2021

St. Michael, Milwaukee

Our Parish Roots

As a Catholic parish since 1883, St. Michael parish has always been a place where new refugees found a spiritual home. Originally founded by German immigrants, the parish received displaced German speaking persons from Eastern Europe after World War II (the Donauschwaben). In the 1980s, we welcomed new South-east Asian immigrants (both Lao and Hmong), and Latinos from the Caribbean and all Americas. In the last 5 years, we have opened our doors to recent immigrants from Myanmar (formerly Burma), who have arrived in Milwaukee, escaping terrors in their native country. This pattern of refugees reaching out to other refugees, now across cultural lines, is truly the work of the Holy Spirit. Our past experience as refugees ourselves helps us fulfill the mission of the Catholic Church to, “Welcome the stranger.”

  Parish Repairs - $91,076

In order to maintain the physical campus, we need to invest in several infrastructure projects. One of the projects we excitedly anticipate is to repair the bell tower. Our restrooms in the church also need repair in order to match the quality of the rest of the church. There may be additional projects that we undertake, if we are able to raise necessary funds beyond our initial goal.

  Emergency Fund - $50,000

Although we are blessed with a thriving parish, there are always future unexpected repairs. With our share of funds, we plan to insulate our parish from future emergencies and unplanned expenses by developing a rainy-day fund for facilities and repairs.

  Faith Formation - $15,000

Faith formation lies at the forefront of our mission. To educate the youth in our holy sacraments and church customs requires investment. We hope to use our share of the funds to invest in curriculum for faith formation. Additionally, we would like to invest more in our youth programming.
